The Harvard Museum of Natural History will open for limited in-person visitation solely for Harvard faculty, students, and staff with a valid Harvard ID starting September 1, 2021. Guests are not allowed at this time. Harvard Faculty who wish to schedule a class visit may contact the HMSC Reservations Department. We are working with Harvard University on a phased reopening and look forward to sharing details for public access soon. Pre-reserved group admission is $3.00 off regular price admissions for groups of 10 or more.

Self-guided Visits

With signage, videos, and interactive displays throughout the galleries, visitors do not need a tour guide to enjoy the museum and the 12,000 specimens on display.


Please register your group at least two weeks in advance. We are unable to offer the group visit discount to groups that do not pre-register.

Drop-off and Parking

There is easy drop-off at the museum (on Oxford Street, see map ) for buses, with off-site parking available on campus. Please include parking needs on the reservation form.

Virtual Private Group Tours

Virtual private docent-guided group tours can be scheduled for groups of 30 or fewer participants, to allow for an interactive experience.

Tours are available Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm EST, with evening hours available by request.

A tour fee of $150 covers up to 30 participants. Larger groups can arrange for multiple programs. Discounted tours ($120) are available for members at the Contributing level and above.

Please register your group at least two weeks in advance. A nonrefundable $50 deposit is required at the time of reservation, with the remaining fee due 1 week in advance of the program. Tour fees are nonrefundable.

Prepaid Museum Passes for Educational Institutions

College, high schools, and other institutions can purchase blocks of individual tickets at the discounted group rate. Faculty, students, and staff will have the opportunity to visit at any convenient time—with or without their peers—and still benefit from the $3.00 discount.

The minimum purchase is 10 passes.
